So it is cold and nasty outside, which means Norah and I are trapped inside...

Norah the Neatfreak

I don't usually make my bed. I know, I know... Messy messy. But I always end up wrapping myself up in the covers anyway so I don't see a point in neatly making he bed each night.

Anyway, last night I got into bed and started reading. Norah sleeps in her own bed at night but she usually naps on the human bed while I read. Last night, however, she jumped up onto the messy bed and restlessly started pawing at the covers and trying to rearrange them by pulling them flat with her mouth. Finally, she gave up, gave a big sigh, and crawled in underneath the bed.

I thought I would see what happens if I make the bed, since it looked to me like Norah was trying to flatten out the blankets on the bed. So, I made the bed and got back in to read. Norah crawled out from under the bed, saw that all of the covers were now neat and flat, jumped on the bed and went to sleep.

Norah Versus the Sweater

Norah + Snow = Poop

I took Norah outside just now, not for a walk, but to just jump around a bit in the almost foot of snow that is already on the ground while more comes down...

She hopped around in it like some sort of gigantic bunny (I'll take some video tomorrow when it is light out), and then pooped! She was even on her short "walking" leash and everything!

While she still isn't quite perfect with the potty training and the going to the bathroom on a leash, she is SO MUCH better than she was when we first got her. At this rate, she'll be totally potty-normal by the end of winter I think!

I couldn't find my poop-bags (haven't had much need for them until now) so I used a plastic drink cup to pick it up... it was like some sort of horrible snow-cone from hell... I got a kick out of it. 


Ok - I'll try not to do another post on poop for a while, I promise. 

Norah and Snow

Norah was born in January of 2009, meaning that she was just a couple of months old when last winter ended. That means that this winter is the first one that she is actually "experiencing". While I don't have any hilarious video to share yet, I wanted to report that she walked in some snow today (the first actual snow of this winter) and looked at me with her typical "WTF?!?!" look as if to say "what did you do? Whatever it was, make it go away please crazy human...".

She enjoys eating snow, but not walking in it - or at least, the ground being all cold and crunchy is something she will need to get used to :-)

Nora After a Bath

I gave Norah a bath today so that she is all nice and clean for when we go visit Kerby this weekend. She's a pretty good dog in the bathtub - no fighting or anything - she just stands there and lets me wash her. But, after her bath she goes a little crazy...

(also, yes... my apartment is messy... )
